Back in October 2025, SUM4Re actively participated in the CINTECX Open Day, held at the Center for Research in Technologies, Energy, and Industrial Processes (CINTECX) of the University of Vigo. The event opened the doors of the research center to both teenagers from educational institutions and the general public, offering a unique opportunity to connect cutting-edge research with society.
As part of the 6th edition of the CINTECX Open Days, SUM4Re was presented as an example of how research and innovation can directly contribute to more sustainable use of resources and to addressing current environmental and industrial challenges. Researchers involved in the project explained its objectives, approaches, and expected impact through interactive activities integrated into the center’s thematic tours and workshops.
On the first day, dedicated to the general public, visitors of all ages learned about SUM4Re in an accessible and engaging way, discovering how scientific research can generate real solutions for sustainability and the circular economy. The second day focused on middle and high school students, who explored the project while taking part in dynamic challenges and hands-on demonstrations designed to spark curiosity and encourage scientific and technical vocations.
We express our gratitude towards our coordinator UVIGO for promoting SUMR4Re! By participating in the CINTECX Open Day, SUM4Re strengthened its outreach and dissemination efforts, contributing to the broader goal of bringing European research closer to society. The initiative highlighted the importance of sustainability-driven projects and reinforced SUM4Re’s commitment to education, public engagement, and inspiring future generations of engineers and researchers.
