On March 28, 2025, our partner EBC attended the ECCREDI Counco-il Meeting at EMPA’s NEST facility in Switzerland. The ECCREDI is a Brussels-based organisation that serves as a collaborative platform for European federations. It brings together various stakeholders from the construction sectors, including contractors, engineers, researchers, architects, and manufacturers, gathered around a common goal: enhancing competitiveness, quality, safety, and environmental performance of the construction industry while promoting sustainability in the built environment.
During this meeting, EBC Technical Officer Evangelia Tsiala presented our project SUM4Re, focusing on its innovative approach to transforming construction and demolition waste (CDW) management. The SUM4Re project integrates technologies like AI, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and remote sensing to create material banks through digital urban mining, promoting circular construction practices.
What’s next?
A big thank you to Evangelia Tsiala! Their presentation has propelled SUM4Re’s mission by fostering stakeholder engagement and collecting valuable insights through an ongoing survey. Learn about the project’s overarching goals, including waste reduction, resource conservation, and the promotion of circular economy principles within the construction sector.
We need your contributions! We are still gathering insights for our research on the use of secondary materials and Construction & Demolition Waste (CDW) management in buildings. The survey doesn’t take longer than 15 minutes to complete, and would greatly aid in our goals.
Your input matters. Take the survey!
